Tall Ships Race in Fredrikstad in 2019 - some more photos
Just walking and watching these magnificant ships was enough for most of us. On some ships you could also come aboard.
Atyla looked straight out of one of those childhood books about pirates.

Tall Ships Race in Fredrikstad 2019
The truth is I do not like to be at sea, but when the ships and boats are safely placed along the shore, it is a different matter. On Friday we went to Fredrikstad to see the Tall Ships.
The dictionary told me that a tall ship is a sailing ship with a high mast or masts.
According to the news today, around 300 000 persons are estimated to have visited the event during a few short days. Impressive!
It was a beautiful summer day.
The ships came in all sizes and ages and from many countries - including
Oman, Brazil and Mexico.

Waterpainting
Yesterday we enjoyed some waterpainting with friends and it became clear to me that , I am not as generous in using water when I waterpaint as my granddaughter is.
A cat lover loves to paint cats too. :-)
"You remember, Grandma, how we saw the snow on the top of the mountains when travelling by train to Bergen, and how sometimes the clouds were lower down?"
"Oppsa!" and "Uff da!"
My granddaughter has probably heard "Uff da!" many times during the years.
This time, at the age of 10, she registered I said "Oppsa!"
"You know", she told me, "Oppsa sounds like the brother of Uff da".
Now, a few days later, when I said "Oy Wey" she stated: "You say that a lot.
Oy wey must be the mother of Uff da and Oppsa."

"A Grandma Award"
Talking with my granddaughter, 10, about awards ( I knew she was talking about a toy she wanted), my argument was that perhaps the best reward is your own feeling that you accomplished something.
To which she answered: "That is a Grandma Award!"

A taste of summer
On the 4th of July we actually expanded this by using
raspberries, strawberries, cherries for the red,
blueberries for the blue and
Kesam ( a version of curd) for the white.
Kesam was not to the taste of the younger generation...

"It looked like"
Sometimes I act too quickly, and this was one instance.
My friend handed me some smaller sweets wrapped in paper, and a bigger one, nicely wrapped in cellophane.
I unwrapped the big one, took a big bite - and my friend and family members looked at me in shock!
It was actually a fancy soap.
That should teach me a lesson.
