My first birthday party on Skype

Last night four generations joined to celebrate Kate's
first birthday.
Grandma and greatgrandma here in Norway.
Kate and her parents in the States.

The birthday girl herself was a little drowsy after
having had one of her naps, but her spirits improved
as the party went on, and particularly after the
entertainment part with Sesam Street and songs
she knows.

She was seated in front of the camera, dressed up
with a birthday-crown on her head.

A specially made strawberrycake was brought to the table.
Greatgrandma saw that the cake was adorned with the
chocolate letters she had sent "Gratulerer Kate 1 år".

We sang birthday-songs in at least four different languages.

We all marvelled how this little girl has learnt so much
during the last year, and how much joy she gives us.

Grandma and Greatgrandma had earlier gone out for
a festive meal, and had their own cake here in Norway.
But we sure would have liked to taste Cheryl's cake too!

All in all, we felt it was a real miracle that Skype helped us
celebrate Kate's birthday this way!
