Another blessing of the Internet

Two of my internet friends are elderly.
One in her late eighties.
One is 91.

I have never met these two ladies in real life
but I feel very fortunate to have met them
through the internet.

Today I wrote back to my 91 year old friend:

I have not seen you in real life, but there
is something young and vibrant in the person
I see through your emails. You are first and
foremost you, without any particular age.
And I feel very fortunate to have seen
firsthand that even when we pass 80 and 90,
the internet allows us to keep that inner
part of our personality going, even if the
outer shell, our body, is not all that well.
